Breeding Cats
All Caizah breeding cats are blood typed for compatibility and are tested negative for FIV, FeLV and Tritrichomonas foetus (T foetus) infection. T foetus is a parasite that causes diarrhoea in cats. They are also PCR tested for upper respiratory infections from time to time to ensure negative status.
All cats or their proximate ancestors have been tested normal for the genetic diseases Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK Def) and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA). PK Def is a hereditary form of anaemia occasionally encountered in Abyssinian and Somali cats. PRA is a hereditary disease of the retina in the eye that eventually leads to permanent blindness. It is very important to us that we are breeding from the healthiest possible adult cats. While it costs a lot of money for testing any good ethical breeder should be testing for things within their breed(s) to ensure they are selling healthy problem free kittens as pets :-) |
